You want to start scaling your business, but you don’t know where to start. Your 1:1 calls are always booked, and you don’t really want to add additional availability, or you’ve hit your income ceiling for several months in a row now (first off — congrats! Yay!) — and that’s kinda what we’re talking about today.
Scaling your business (and your income) without dedicating more time to your clients comes from expanding your offer suite, preferably with the help of a curriculum.
You might not initially think of curriculum development, but trust me; a curriculum is the information behind your resources, courses, mini-courses, and group programs — you get the idea. While I strongly recommend a course when business owners are ready to scale, it can look a little different based on what works best (and feels best) to you.
Every idea listed should be supported by your curriculum (so before you start developing anything else, build your curriculum first) — and I swear that’s my last reminder about it (maybe). There’s a reason why it’s the most important step in building out your digital products.
Now that we’ve established where to start, we can talk about how to use it. You can create whatever you need to support and build out your offer suite to cater to different types and levels of buyers in your audience.
For example, you can launch a signature course as a high-tier item under your 1:1 or group offer or create a mini-masterclass or checklist to use as your lowest-tier item or TOF (top-of-funnel).
It’s up to you (it is YOUR business, after all), but here are a few ideas that can help you get started:
I used this in the example above, but I wanted to reshare it because it’s a personal favorite (in fact, I use a masterclass as my TOF; you can watch it for free here). You can add masterclasses about specific topics as part of a subscription or membership service, as one-off products, or as a free resource, aka your “freebie.”
Mini-courses are a great way to both expand and support your current offer suite. Using the curriculum you’ve developed, you can offer mini-courses about more specific topics so they can choose what they want to learn about. You can also bundle them for leads or consumers who are not quite ready to work with you 1:1 but are still interested in learning from you in some capacity.
Think of it this way — have you ever purchased a low-ticket program from someone only to be so disappointed you knew you would never join their mastermind? Mini-courses can go the same way — if you deliver incredible value with a low-ticket offer, you’re just developing that trust and brand loyalty for future programs and services.
You do not have to sell something new to support or expand your offer suite; you CAN improve your current services and raise your prices or take on more clients without adding more work. In fact, I recommend it.
Build your curriculum to use with your group program or 1:1 clients — it will allow you to provide resources, structure, and a framework for your work together (providing a better client experience, transformations, and retention).
Instead of answering the same information over and over on calls or in Voxer, you can direct clients to a specific resource (allowing you to get to deeper levels of conversation).
This is my bread and butter — a signature course. Launching a signature course is the best way to scale your business and provides a way for clients to learn from you and experience a transformation when you’re booked out, out of the office, or out of their budget.
Did this quick list help the wheels get turning? I hope so! As business owners, scaling and expanding our businesses (whatever that looks like and feels like to you) can be stressful and overwhelming.
Most of the time, we’re doing this to get our time back and realize it will take some time upfront — the journey from start to finish for a high-quality course and curriculum normally takes around 3-4 months, while mini-courses or program resources often take less time.
Hopefully, this gave you the inspiration you need to start or continue scaling your business, building your course, and increasing your impact. Get the monthly breakdown you need to design, create, launch, and profit from your own online course with my Course Creation Checklist -> Check it out.
